Michelle Dorrance, eine Pionierin des modernen Stepptanzes, hebt diese afroamerikanische Kunstform, verwurzelt in Protest und Transzendenz, Improvisation und Innovation, auf ein neues Niveau. Für ihre neue Kreation verbindet sie verschiedene Tanzstile und tritt hier mit der New Yorker Breakdance-Tänzerin Ephrat Asherie in einen innovativen Dialog. Ihr Duett entwickelt sich zu einer kraftvollen Ensemble-Performance, in der Body Percussion, House und Footwork einfließen. »The Center Will Not Hold« thematisiert Isolation, Gemeinschaft und Solidarität. Es stellt die Frage, ob das Zentrum der Menschheit Bestand haben kann oder ob alles auseinanderbricht und im Chaos versinkt.
